When your doctor orders medical imaging, your first thought might be about the cost. Will the imaging center take my insurance? Will the scans be affordable? If I don’t have insurance, will I be able to get financial assistance? At Gateway Diagnostic Imaging, we never want our patients to worry about the bill. From which insurance companies we work with to our financial assistance options, here’s everything you need to know about billing and insurance when you receive imaging services through Gateway Diagnostic Imaging.
We are in-network with all major insurance companies, including Blue Cross® Blue Shield®, UnitedHealthcare®, Aetna®, and Cigna®. We also accept CareCredit®.
CareCredit® is a health and wellness credit card that helps cover deductibles, co-pays, and other expenses your insurance provider doesn’t cover. Through CareCredit®, you can access special financing options to make healthcare more affordable. Over 260,000 healthcare providers across the country accept CareCredit®, including Gateway Diagnostic Imaging. Learn more about CareCredit®.
Yes! For all of our services, self-pay rates are available to those without insurance.
Yes. Before your appointment, we’ll work with your insurance provider to get authorization for your scan and contact you with an estimate of what you’ll need to pay. We will bill insurance directly for their portion of the cost.
For your portion of the cost, you’ll only receive one bill. You will not receive multiple bills for facility or radiologist fees.
While many of our patients are able to receive their scans same-day or the next day, you may need to wait for preauthorization. Contact your insurance provider to find out if they will require preauthorization before you can receive your scan.
Whether you have insurance or are a self-pay patient, your portion of the cost will be due at time of service.
We know medical imaging can be expensive. At Gateway, we strive to provide high-quality, affordable medical imaging. Our patients see up to 400% cost savings compared to a hospital MRI. We also offer financial assistance to those who qualify.
Financial assistance is available for patients without insurance or who can’t afford our imaging services. Generally, patients with family income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (FPG) will receive a 100% discount. Patients with family incomes ranging from greater than 200% up to 500% of FPG, with medical bills equal to or greater than 5% of their yearly income, are eligible for a 95% discount.
